Cap Convex, expanding with age, smooth, sometimes cracked, whitish to pale buff, to about 10 cm across Gills Adnate or slightly decurrent, whitish then pale brown Stem +/- equal, fibrous, with a fleshy apical ring, whitish Flesh Firm, whitish Smell Pleasant, nutty, sweetish, like old dregs of red wine: Roger Phillips compares the smell to old wine casks.
